Mosaic Artist

Last weekend I stumbled upon a mosaic artist displaying his work for a shopping mall art exhibit.  I had intended to visit an art store nearby to stock up on some mosaic glass.  They were closed (for lunch), so I ended up at the mall.

Bonci Pierino was great to talk to.  He showed me his work, explained some of his techniques and gave me directions to find another mosaic supplier.

Bonci does some beautiful work using ceramic, glass, aquarium stone, wood and more.  Check out the link to see his work.

Current Projects

I completed the mosaic part of this project a few weeks ago.  All I have left to do is clean it up a bit and paint the sides and back of the baseboard.

This is my Denver Bronco mosaic I've been working on for a few weeks.  I'm trying a different technique, in which the glass pieces are layed as close together as possible, minimizing the amount of grout that will be used.  The detail of this mosaic has been a time consuming challenge, especially the letters.  It will say Denver Broncos when finished.

And here is my newest project, a red and black mirror design.  Katrina helped me come up with the swirling red idea.

I will post pictures of these projects when they are completed.
